Sandhurst Club is seeking a Kitchenhand to join our culinary team on a casual basis. This role is pivotal in maintaining the smooth operation of our kitchen and ensuring the highest standards of food preparation and presentation. Based in Sandhurst, you will work flexibly as needed to support our chefs and kitchen staff in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our members and guests.
As a Kitchenhand, you will be instrumental in maintaining our reputation for quality food and hospitality excellence.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing ingredients for cooking, including washing, peeling, chopping and portioning vegetables, meats and other produce
- Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including cleaning work surfaces, equipment and utensils to the highest hygiene standards
- Assisting chefs with food preparation and plating for service
- Managing food storage and stock rotation to ensure food safety and quality
- Operating and cleaning kitchen equipment under the guidance of senior kitchen staff
- Supporting waste management and recycling protocols
- Following all health, safety and food hygiene regulations
- Contributing to kitchen efficiency by working as part of a cohesive team during service periods
What we're looking for
- Previous experience as a Kitchenhand, or similar food preparation role, preferably in a hospitality or catering environment
- A solid understanding of food safety and hygiene practices, with current or willingness to obtain a Food Safety Certificate
- Ability to work efficiently and flexibly on a casual basis, adapting to varying shift patterns and kitchen demands
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Physical stamina and capability to handle the demands of kitchen work
- A positive attitude, reliability and willingness to learn
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and food preparation techniques is advantageous
