Position Title: Koori Mental Health Liaison Officer Classification: XX9 - ON15Salary per hour (exc. super): $3,412.40 - $3,854.00Hours per fortnight: up to 80 hours (including an ADO every 4 weeks)Employment Status: Ongoing Full TimeOther requirements: 2026 Flu Vaccination Closing date: 26/08/2026 Koori Mental Health Liaison Officer (KMHLO) The Koori Mental Health Liaison Officer plays a key role in supporting the delivery of culturally safe, responsive and person-centred mental health care for Aboriginal consumers across the Loddon Mallee region receiving inpatient mental health services. The role provides culturally appropriate support, advocacy and care coordination to Aboriginal consumers and their families throughout their inpatient journey, helping to navigate the mental health system, strengthen engagement with services and facilitate access to appropriate internal and external supports. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, the Koori Mental Health Liaison Officer promotes culturally safe practice and contributes to improved consumer experiences and health outcomes.
The position also provides cultural advice and guidance to Mental Health staff, supporting greater understanding of Aboriginal cultures, histories and the social and emotional wellbeing framework. Through education, collaboration and advocacy, the role contributes to building organisational capability and strengthening the delivery of culturally safe mental health care across Bendigo Health. Quality and Risk provides leadership and support for quality, compliance, risk, patient safety, consumer experience and engagement and improvement and innovation across the organisation. The division has responsibility for overseeing the risk management framework and compliance to various accreditations and legislative requirements and to ensure improvements are undertaken through our responses to recommendations arising from assessments.
There is a strong strategic and operational focus of promoting and advancing continuous improvement, partnering with consumers, and supporting the organisation to review incidents, data and systems to improve patient outcomes and efficiency of the business.
The division collaboratively provides high quality clinical governance support and advice, both internally and when supporting health services in the Loddon Mallee Health Services Network.
