About the role

Working as part of our laboratory team, you will undertake hands-on laboratory work involving the preparation and processing of soil, water and other environmental samples, routine laboratory testing and analysis, and operation of laboratory equipment. This is a practical role suited to someone who enjoys laboratory work, can follow procedures accurately and is comfortable working across a variety of different tests and sample types. Training will be provided in our specific laboratory methods and procedures.

Key responsibilities

- Preparation and processing of soil, water and other environmental samples
- Routine laboratory testing and analysis
- Preparation of reagents, standards and laboratory solutions
- Operation, calibration and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Recording, checking and entering laboratory results accurately
- Sample receipt, labelling, tracking and storage
- Maintaining accurate laboratory records and documentation
- Cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment and work areas
- Monitoring laboratory consumables and stock levels




- Assisting with quality control procedures

About you

- A qualification in laboratory techniques, chemistry, biological sciences, environmental science or a related field
- Previous laboratory experience, although strong graduates will also be considered
- Good attention to detail and the ability to follow written procedures
- Good record-keeping and basic computer skills
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
- Positive time management and the ability to manage multiple samples and tasks
- A practical attitude and willingness to learn new laboratory methods
