The Role
Lead Mechanical Engineer
Reporting to the Engineering Director you will contribute to the design, development and delivery of mineral processing and bulk materials handling projects from concept through to detailed design and commissioning support.
The role offers exposure to a diverse range of commodities and projects while working within a team-oriented and technically focused engineering team.
The role is offered on a full-time permanent basis.
Duties
- Lead the mechanical engineering design of mineral processing and materials handling projects during all phases
- Provide technical leadership, guidance and mentoring to mechanical engineers and designers
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary project teams
- Plan, coordinate and manage mechanical engineering deliverables, resources and technical quality to meet project objectives
- Lead and contribute to feasibility studies, concept design, pre-feasibility, definitive feasibility studies, FEED and detailed engineering
- Prepare and review equipment specifications, technical datasheets, vendor documentation and technical bid evaluations
- Coordinate mechanical design activities with multidisciplinary engineering and drafting teams
- Support procurement activities, including vendor engagement, technical clarifications and equipment selection
- Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, site inspections and field activities as required
- Participate in safety in design, HAZOP, design reviews, constructability reviews and risk assessments
- Ensure designs comply with applicable Australian Standards, client specifications, statutory requirements and industry best practice
- Support project delivery by managing scope, schedule, budget and quality outcomes
Criteria
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years’ experience in mining and minerals processing and/or materials handling, preferably within an engineering consultancy or project delivery environment
- Proven leadership on studies and detailed design projects
- Strong client engagement and project coordination capability
- Experience managing mechanical scopes, schedules and deliverables
- Commercial awareness and leadership capability
