Virginia State School Swimming Club is looking for two enthusiastic Learn to Swim Instructors to join our team for an immediate start.

We are an established community swimming club with a long and proud history of teaching children to swim, develop their skills and build confidence in the water.

Our program caters for swimmers from approximately 4 to 17 years of age, from Learn to Swim through to squad swimming.

We are currently looking for two Learn to Swim Instructors, with approximately 8–10 hours of work available each week.

Hours are available:

- Monday to Thursday between 3:00pm and 6:00pm
- Potential additional Saturday morning shifts from 7:30am to 10:00am

We have a wonderful and experienced Head Coach who will work closely with our Learn to Swim team. This is a great opportunity for instructors who enjoy working with children, love swimming and want to continue developing their own teaching and coaching skills in a supportive club environment. Most importantly, we are looking for people who are enthusiastic about swimming and want to help give the next generation of children the skills, confidence and enjoyment that come from learning to swim.

What we're looking for

Applicants should hold:
- Swim Australia Teacher qualification or equivalent
- Current CPR and First Aid certificates
- Current positive Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- A positive and encouraging approach to working with children
- Reliability and the ability to commit to regular afternoon shifts
- A genuine enthusiasm for swimming and helping young swimmers progress

The role





Our Learn to Swim Instructors will:
- Deliver engaging and age-appropriate Learn to Swim classes
- Assess swimmers and place them into the class best suited to their current ability
- Teach and develop water confidence, swimming fundamentals and stroke technique
- Progress swimmers through our Frog, Dolphin and Super Dolphin levels
- Introduce and develop racing skills as swimmers progress through the program
- Help swimmers understand good technique and the fundamentals and rules of swimming
- Provide positive and constructive feedback to swimmers
- Discuss swimmers' progress with parents and guardians when required
- Complete class rolls and attendance records in a timely manner
- Work collaboratively with our Head Coach and broader coaching team
- Above all, help create an workplace where children enjoy swimming, grow in confidence and are proud of their progress
