Lived Experience Storyteller

Turn your story into a reason someone else gets home safely.

What if sharing what happened to you could stop it happening to someone else? PBF Australia is looking for people with lived experience of spinal cord injury or other serious trauma to join our Injury Prevention team as Lived Experience Storytellers.

This is more than public speaking. You’ll take your personal experience into workplaces, schools and communities and use your story to challenge the way people think about risk, safety and the choices they make every day.

Your story could be the moment someone thinks twice before taking a risk.

It could change a behaviour.

It could prevent an injury.

What you'll do

- Share your lived experience across PBF's training programs
- Speak to students, workers and community groups about the real consequences of unsafe choices
- Help people connect safety messages to real life
- Facilitate engaging conversations and encourage safer behaviours
- Work alongside PBF Australia's team
- Develop your skills as a confident and impactful public speaker

You don't need to be an experienced presenter. We will provide training, coaching and support to help you turn your experience into a powerful story that connects with an audience.

About you

We're looking for people who:

- Have lived experience of a spinal cord injury or serious trauma,



particularly resulting from a road crash, workplace incident or other preventable event
- Are comfortable sharing their story and want to use it for positive change
- Can connect with people and communicate authentically
- Are willing to speak to a range of audiences, from high school students to workplace teams
- Are reliable, positive and confident working as part of a team
- Have reliable transport and Working with Children Check, or are willing to obtain one

Public speaking experience is not essential. What matters most is your story, your willingness to share it, and your desire to make a difference.
