PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

This position contributes to the operational effectiveness of Water Services by leading and coordinating the management, function and application of water science and technology in treatment systems across the Northern Territory.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The “WHAT” to be delivered

Functional

- Identify and implement investigations to develop medium and long-term master plans for treatment systems to achieve compliance with water, wastewater and waste discharge licences

- Develop, implement and review treatment processes to support other functional units and achieve improved operational, product quality and

environmental outcomes
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of documentation related to treatment systems including water and wastewater safety

plans
- Contribute to risk management, benchmarking and operational improvement activities for treatment systems
- Support the preparation and submission of licence applications for treatment systems, including establishing and reporting on performance

against licence conditions

Safety and Environment

- Take all practicable steps to ensure your own safety, the safety of PWC staff and contractors, the public and their property

- Co-ordinate investigations and reporting of incidents as an ICAM Lead Investigator
- Seek to reduce the environmental impact of the organisation through compliance with legislative, regulatory and licence requirements

- Foster a continuous improvement culture, developing and reviewing processes and procedures to ensure they are current and relevant to legislative, regulatory and other work requirements

Commercial

- Assume responsibility for the financial and operational performance of the team, working with others to develop metrics to measure and report on team performance

Project Management

- Effectively undertake investigations, develop concept and detailed designs, specifications and justifications for capital and operational Business

Cases in accordance with the strategic needs of Water Services
- Coordinate assigned complex and/or high value projects, noting that the delivery of capital projects will generally be by others

SELECTION CRITERIA

Qualification & Skills Experience

Essential • Relevant Engineering, Scientific, Environmental • Significant experience working within the water science and

Management degree recognised in Australia water technology industry with a demonstrated knowledge

- Relevant project and /or contract management skills of public health and environmental compliance obligations
- High level interpersonal, oral and written and related procedures

communication skills and negotiation skills with • Significant knowledge and practical experience of water proven ability to effectively communicate science and science and technical processes related to drinking water technical information to key stakeholders and/or wastewater
- Ability to foster positive working relationships across • Demonstrated experience at managing teams capable of key stakeholders and a culturally diverse range of investigating and designing projects, taking them from customers concept to delivery
