We are looking for an experienced Mandarin tutor to support a university student enrolled in an advanced Chinese language course.
The ideal tutor should be comfortable working with a student at approximately Chinese 302 / third-year university level, with support needed across:
- Oral expression and conversation
- Reading and writing
- Grammar and vocabulary development
- Research-based discussion and cultural topics
- Academic Chinese and presentation support
The course focus includes:
- Moving from colloquial to more literary Chinese
- Understanding Chinese social and cultural issues
- Developing explicit, coherent spoken and written expression
- Preparing for class discussions, written work, and assessments
The student is based in the Sydney time zone, so availability that overlaps with Sydney hours is essential.
Preferred qualities
- Strong Mandarin fluency, ideally native or near-native
- Experience tutoring advanced learners or university students
- Ability to explain language clearly and structure lessons well
- Comfortable tailoring support to the student’s course materials and needs
