McGregor Tan Research

Darwin

Join one of Australia’s most respected independent research agencies and help deliver research that matters across the Northern Territory.

McGregor Tan is looking for an experienced Market Research Executive to join our Insights team in Darwin.

This role is suited to someone who already has market research agency experience and understands the pace, variety and expectations of client-based research.

You will work closely with our experienced Insights team in Adelaide, who will provide research leadership, methodological support and quality review, while taking responsibility for supporting the day-to-day delivery of projects in Darwin.

You will need to be comfortable working independently, but you will not be working alone. You will be part of a broader research team and will collaborate closely with researchers, recruitment, fieldwork and Data Operations colleagues.

The role combines research delivery, analysis, reporting, client communication and local relationship-building. You will support both quantitative and qualitative projects, work closely with clients and stakeholders, and help ensure research projects run smoothly on the ground in Darwin.

We are particularly interested in someone who understands not only research, but also the broader commercial and marketing context in which clients use research to make decisions.

What you will be doing

As part of our Insights team, you will:

- support the delivery of quantitative, qualitative and mixed-method research projects
- work closely with Adelaide-based project leads to ensure projects are delivered accurately, professionally and on time
- contribute to research design and help translate client questions into practical research approaches
- develop and review questionnaires, discussion guides and other research materials
- run a major tracking project for key client
- review, analyse and interpret survey data
- identify patterns, themes and findings that matter
- bring quantitative and qualitative evidence together to develop meaningful insights
- create clear charts, presentations and written reports
- contribute to recommendations and implications arising from the research
- check data, calculations, interpretations and reports for accuracy and consistency
- communicate professionally with clients throughout their projects
- build strong working relationships with Darwin and Northern Territory clients and stakeholders

- contribute to client presentations and research discussions
- manage timelines, priorities and multiple project responsibilities
- keep Adelaide-based project leads informed of progress, risks and emerging issues
- contribute local knowledge and context to the broader research team.

What we are looking for

Previous market research agency experience is essential.

This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who already understands how agency research projects operate and can contribute productively from the outset.

You are likely to be someone who:

- has experience working within a market research, insights or closely related research agency environment
- understands the research process from briefing through fieldwork, analysis and reporting
- has experience supporting or delivering quantitative and qualitative research projects
- can work independently and manage agreed responsibilities without requiring close day-to-day supervision
- also enjoys working collaboratively and knows when to seek guidance or involve a project lead
- communicates confidently and professionally with clients
- builds relationships easily and understands the importance of maintaining trusted client relationships
- can work with survey data and identify the findings that matter
- can interpret qualitative feedback and connect it with other evidence
- writes clearly and can turn research findings into a coherent story
- has strong attention to detail and takes pride in accurate, polished work
- is organised, dependable and comfortable managing competing priorities
- understands commercial realities, deadlines and client expectations
- is curious about organisations, customers, communities and markets
- ideally understands marketing, customer behaviour, communications or commercial decision-making
- is comfortable representing McGregor Tan professionally within the Darwin market

Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills are important.

Experience with Q, Displayr, SPSS,

R or similar analysis tools would be highly regarded.

Experience supporting interviews, focus groups, workshops or other qualitative research would also be valuable. You will be supported in development of thiese skills but ability to conduct qualitative research is required.

A relevant tertiary qualification may be helpful, but practical market research agency experience is more important for this role.
