About the role

Join Progress Rail in Port Augusta and play a key role in keeping Australia’s rail network moving. In this hands-on position, you’ll carry out maintenance, overhauls, and repairs on locomotives and associated equipment to the highest standards.

Whether you're a qualified tradesperson or a 3rd/4th year apprentice, this is a great opportunity to build your career in a stable, essential industry—with ongoing training and long-term job security.

Job tasks and responsibilities

- Performing maintenance, fault-finding, and repairs on diesel/electric locomotives
- Completing major overhauls and component rebuilds
- Interpreting and applying technical drawings
- Working collaboratively within a skilled and supportive team
- Continuously learning and developing your technical capability

About you

- Trade qualified (Mechanical or similar) OR 3rd/4th year apprentice




- Experience in heavy maintenance (highly regarded)
- Robust problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Motivation to grow your skills with ongoing training
