Mechanical Fitter / Heavy Plant Mechanic

Cobra Waste Industries | Yennora, NSW | Full-Time Cobra Waste Industries is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Heavy Plant Mechanic to join our team at our Yennora recycling facility.

This is a hands-on role working across heavy plant, recycling equipment and vehicles, with a strong focus on mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, welding and fabrication.

Robust welding and fabrication skills are essential for this role, including experience with MIG, TIG and Stick welding.

Key Responsibilities

- Servicing, maintenance and repairs of heavy plant and machinery
- Maintenance of shredders, conveyors and recycling plant equipment
- Working on excavators, loaders, material handlers and other mobile plant
- MIG, TIG and Stick welding
- Fabrication and structural repairs
- Repairing cracks, worn components, frames, brackets and steel structures
- Mechanical and hydraulic fault finding and repairs
- Preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
- Breakdown diagnosis and urgent repairs
- Identifying faults before they result in major downtime
- Assisting with truck and trailer maintenance where required
- Maintaining service and maintenance records

What We're Looking For

- Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter,



Heavy Plant Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic or equivalent experience
- Strong MIG, TIG and Stick welding skills
- Strong fabrication and metal repair experience
- Experience working with heavy plant, machinery or industrial equipment
- Strong mechanical and hydraulic knowledge
- Good fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and confidently carry out repairs
- Current driver's licence
- Reliable, safety-focused and takes pride in their workmanship
