Pax Centre offers a warm and inviting space for our staff and patients, with a collaborative and supportive team of admin staff and clinicians. Our specialist team consists of psychiatrists and multidisciplinary psychotherapists. We treat psychological trauma using a holistic approach to mental health and offer gold standard and innovative therapies. With exciting growth in our clinic we are looking to hire an outstanding experienced medical receptionist to join our team.

About the role
As a part time Medical Receptionist/Patient Liaison you are a key person in our admin team. You are often a first point of contact with the clinic and will build a strong rapport with our patients and clinicians. You will enjoy engaging with people from all walks of life, and use a caring and compassionate approach towards your job to ensure our patients experience is calm, safe and positive.
You will be passionate about working in the medical/allied health, a hard worker with great initiative and demonstrated reliability. With a proven history in a similar role, you will be confident in your skills and able to work autonomously in a busy environment. You will have a positive demeanour and be a team player.
The role will suit those with qualifications in medical/health administration and/or experience working within the mental health setting including mental health support workers and receptionists/administrators.
A Working with Vulnerable People check is required before commencement of employment.
Hours
Part-Time, 3 days per week (Monday, Wednesday & Friday). Pax Centre operates Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 6.00pm. Hours are shared among administration staff.
Skills and experience
This role is fast paced requiring accurate multi-tasking with attention to detail. You must be customer service focused with a warm disposition.
Essential Criteria:
- Passionate about engaging with others in a respectful, kind and caring way while having a sound understanding of boundaries and patient confidentiality.
- Emotionally resilient and willing to undertake Mental Health / Trauma informed training.
- Minimum of 2 years medical administration experience in a role which allowed you to develop strong customer facing skills including problem solving, working under pressure at times and working collaboratively with other members of a team.
- Preference given for healthcare or medical customer service experience over general customer service backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently and use your initiative to make sure tasks are completed efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Confident, professional and friendly manner with excellent communication skills.
Preferred Criteria:
- Previous experience and confidence using medical software (eg Halaxy, Best Practice).
- Knowledge of Medicare/DVA systems and regulations.
- Experience with maintaining accurate and confidential medical records.
