Legacy Club Services (LCS) exists to support Legacy clubs to focus on what matters most - the care of families of veterans who have died or been injured through service.
Legacy is one of Australia's most recognised and trusted ex-service organisations. As the needs of veteran families evolve, LCS plays a central role in strengthening infrastructure, building national consistency and helping position Legacy for the future.
LCS is a member-owned shared services organisation providing corporate, financial, ICT, governance and operational support to its six founding Legacy clubs, as well as services purchased by other clubs within the broader federated Legacy network of 42 clubs. Its model is designed to reduce administrative burden, strengthen compliance and systems, and improve consistency and sustainability while respecting the autonomy and long history of individual Legacy clubs. LCS is currently undertaking a strategic and governance modernisation process. We are seeking an Independent Non-Executive Director to join our Board to help lead this transformation and contribute independent judgement, sound governance and strategic insight to LCS’s continued development.
The successful candidate will have a genuine interest in supporting the families of veterans and a passion for contributing constructively to a member-owned, not-for-profit organisation operating within the broader Legacy network.
The Board meets regularly in person in Sydney, with online attendance available. This is a voluntary role; reasonable expenses will be paid.
Candidates from regional and rural areas are strongly encouraged to apply. As this is an independent role, current Legatees are not eligible to apply. Essential · A demonstrated background in not-for-profit governance.
· Experience serving on and leading not-for-profit Boards, including Boards of member organisations.
· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with fellow Board members and management
· A genuine interest in supporting families of veterans. Highly regarded
· Formal governance training through the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), Governance Institute of Australia, or equivalent.
· Demonstrated understanding of strategy and organisational risk.
· Ability to understand and engage confidently with not-for-profit financial information.
· Experience as a Member of Nominations & Remuneration committees
· Networks that benefit the purpose of Legacy Additional skills welcomed
While not essential, experience in either of the following areas would complement the Board's capabilities:
· Marketing and communications.
