About Your New Role In the Metro Occupational Therapy Reliever role, you'll step into a highly varied position that offers both lots of diversity but also a great opportunity to connect with lots of different teams. The reliever role provides leave relief coverage for Occupational Therapists across Manning, Newcastle and the Lower Hunter. So, if you like variety and working with different clinical areas, this roles for you.

While you'll have a nominated base site, your primary responsibility will be to provide short-term leave cover across a variety of services within these locations. Every placement brings something different, with lots of opportunities to broaden your clinical skills while supporting continuity of care for patients and communities across the district.

About the Team

You'll be part of the Allied Health Reliever Program, a well-established initiative managed by the Allied Health Directorate since 2007. The program supports services across inpatient, outpatient, community, and rehabilitation settings. You'll be joining a multidisciplinary network of Allied Health relievers, including Dietitians, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, and Speech Pathologists.

Locum blocks typically range from one week to a month, with regular time at your base site for administration, mandatory training, professional development, and clinical supervision. This role offers a unique opportunity to work within supportive and collaborative teams; you really get to know the different services HNE offers.

You’ll receive a thorough orientation to help you navigate local systems and processes. The Allied Health Directorate will coordinate your roster and placements, providing ongoing line management and a consistent point of contact throughout.
