About the role

Wanneroo Crane Hire is seeking experienced Open Crane Operators to join our team in a full-time capacity, working both on a local basis or on a fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) rotation.

This is an excellent opportunity for skilled operators who are passionate about safely and efficiently managing heavy lifting operations across the mining, resources and energy sector.

Based in Wangara or High Wycombe, you will be responsible for operating a variety of cranes on job sites, contributing directly to the success of our projects and the safety of all personnel on site.

Key responsibilities

- Operate mobile cranes and other heavy lifting equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with all regulatory requirements and site-specific procedures
- Conduct pre-operational inspections and maintenance checks on cranes to ensure all equipment is in safe working order before commencing operations
- Follow detailed lifting plans and work instructions, communicating clearly with ground crew, riggers and site supervisors throughout each lifting operation
- Monitor loads, rigging equipment and surrounding site conditions during lifts to ensure safety and prevent incidents
- Maintain accurate records of crane operations, hours worked and any incidents or maintenance issues encountered
- Comply with all relevant health and safety legislation, including the Work Health and Safety Act, and site-specific safety protocols
- Participate in toolbox meetings and ongoing safety training to maintain awareness of best practices and regulatory updates
- Work effectively as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive workplace culture
- Travel to FIFO sites as required and adapt to different work environments and site conditions





What we're looking for

- Current and valid Crane Operator licence relevant to the equipment you will be operating (e.g. mobile crane, slewing crane)
- Demonstrated experience operating cranes in the taxi crane hire, resources or energy sector, or similar heavy industrial environments
- Strong knowledge of load charts, rigging practices, and safe lifting procedures
- Working towards or completed relevant vocational qualifications in heavy equipment operation
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams
- Strong commitment to health and safety, with a proven track record of incident-free operations
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in demanding environments, including remote or FIFO locations
- Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work
- Flexibility to work variable hours and adapt to changing site requirements
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel for FIFO operations
- Willingness to obtain site-specific inductions and certifications as required
