Melbourne

We’re building one of the fastest-growing female & queer focused, social-tech and events businesses globally.

In just over a year, we’ve grown from one club, around 200 members, zero staff and working from a bedroom, to 16 clubs, 3 brands, 5,000+ members, 55+ event hosts, a five-person corporate team and a new global HQ office in Melbourne CBD, operating across Australia and the UK.

And we’re only getting started.

We’re now rapidly scaling across our existing markets, preparing to expand into two new international markets, launching new cities and building new brands and social concepts along the way.

Our portfolio includes Actually Social, creating genuine social connection and community by women, for women; Good Mates Only, helping blokes make more mates and build positive real-world friendships; and our cornerstone brand, The Gay Social Club.

We’re a start-up that thinks “why not?”, instead of "why?"

Someone on our team once suggested we launch a nightclub with a fire breather.

...So we did, and we sold it out. Then we did it again.

That probably tells you quite a lot about how we work.

We want people with an entrepreneurial mindset - people who dream big, throw ideas around, back themselves and get excited about actually making things happen.

We move quickly. We take chances. We test things. And sometimes the plan genuinely changes day by day.

If that sounds exciting rather than terrifying, you’ll probably like it here.

THE ROLE.

We’re looking for an (iconic) Operations & Events Coordinator to join our Melbourne based team. This is a hands-on, jack-of-all-trades operations and admin role sitting right in the middle of our members, events, venues, hosts and day-to-day business.

Your primary focus will be Actually Social and Good Mates Only brands, while working heavily alongside our Gay Social Club brand and our emerging portfolio of future brands.

You’ll report to our Global Operations & Content Lead, while also working closely with our Founder & Global Managing Director and the rest of our small central team.

A big part of this role is simply keeping things moving and making sure things actually happen.

You’ll be involved in

- Responding to member emails, questions and support requests
- Helping resolve membership, RSVP, payment and event issues
- Communicating with members around event updates and changes
- Finding, contacting and booking venues
- Managing venue relationships and confirming event details
- Creating and updating events across our websites and systems
- Coordinating event calendars across multiple cities and brands
- Supporting and communicating with our 55+ casual event hosts
- Helping onboard and support current hosts
- Managing cancellations,

changes and the inevitable last-minute problem
- Supporting new city and market launches
- Keeping internal systems, trackers and operational information organised
- Helping improve processes as we grow
- Supporting special events, activations and trips
- Jumping into whatever else needs doing that day

This is not just an event-planning role. Member communication and support is a significant part of it. We have thousands of people using our brands to make friends and build their social lives, so being energetic, warm, helpful, practical and genuinely good with people matters.

There will also be some evening and weekend event hosting or support from time to time, plus opportunities for interstate and international travel to help us launch new cities.

THE ICON WE WANT.

More than anything, we want another self-driven icon. You don't need to arrive knowing every platform, system or process we use.

We can teach that.

We genuinely believe you can teach the right person anything.

What’s much harder to teach is drive, initiative, accountability, curiosity and self-motivation.

We want someone who sees something that needs doing and gets onto it.

Someone who doesn’t need to be chased.

Someone who can be given an outcome rather than a 12-step instruction manual and work out how to get there.

Someone who asks good questions, takes ownership and actually follows things through.

And importantly, we want someone who thinks bigger than their immediate .

If you see a better way to do something, tell us.

If you have an idea, pitch it.

If you think we should try something slightly ridiculous that might actually work, we genuinely want to hear it.

You’ll probably thrive here if you’re highly self-motivated, organised, great with people, comfortable making decisions, good at solving problems and genuinely energised by a fast-moving environment.

Experience in events, hospitality, customer service, community, administration or operations is useful - but we're much more interested in potential, attitude and how you operate than a perfectly polished CV.

OUR START-UP CULTURE.

This is a real start-up. Things change quickly.

Priorities move and we hustle.

A conversation on Tuesday can genuinely become a new brand launch by Friday.

In our first year we went from zero staff to a 55+ person hosting team and five-person corporate office, while expanding across two countries.

Now we’re scaling again.

That creates a huge amount of chance for the people who join us early.

You’ll work directly with senior leadership, be trusted with real responsibility quickly and get exposure to parts of building a growing international business that could take years to reach somewhere more corporate (read: boring).

If you want a narrow role where you stay firmly in your lane and wait for the next task to be assigned, this probably won’t be for you.

If you want to learn quickly, take ownership, build things and grow your career alongside a company that is itself growing incredibly quickly, we’d love to meet you.

OUR TEAM (& MOST IMPORTANT THING TO US).

Our central corporate team is small - and intentionally pretty close. We’ve recently moved into a new Melbourne CBD office, where we work together three days per week, with two days from home.

We’re also genuinely friends.

We eat lunch together, laugh A LOT, throw around ridiculous ideas, often wear chaotic wigs, celebrate wins and actually enjoy coming into the office...we're not a typical boring office team.

You don’t need to be the loudest person in the room, but ultimately we are a business built around human connection, so we love a bit of chaotic energy. We're equal parts 'headphones in and lock in' as we are 'chaotic cackling planning a 'Global Wig Crawl' across five cities at once.

Being social is part of the job.

We want someone who enjoys being around people, contributes to the team around them and wants to be part of what we’re building - rather than simply logging on, completing a list of tasks and disappearing. We love a Friday drinks moment, and never miss our weekly team (company-paid) lunch!

HOW TO TELL US YOU 'LIKE-LIKE' US.

Send us your CV and a short note telling us a little about you and why this role caught your attention is okay. But we'd way rather something that shows us who you are - send us a video, share your favourite TikTok, give us a little personality, share your socials, anything, this is your moment. PLEASE don’t send us a giant ChatGPT cover letter full of corporate buzzwords.

We’d much rather understand how you think, what drives you, what you’re great at and what you want to build next.

PLEASE INCLUDE SALARY EXPECTATIONS IN YOUR SUBMISSION TO BE CONSIDERED

You might be early in your career. That’s completely fine, as this is a junior role, with HUGE room to grow.

We’re not looking for someone who already knows everything.

We’re looking for someone with the drive and potential to get stuck in and grow with us.
