The Role The role is responsible for overseeing operations in a senior capacity across all sites within your operation as required. Working in with Operations, Fleet and staff across the operation, and supporting the General Manager – Operations, you will manage all operational functions and activity, including Franchise Partners, shuttles, bulk fleet, linehaul, third party providers (Outside Hire/Contractors/Temps) and all operational staff (fleet & Operations) within the depots.

These operational tasks include the management of all PUD activities, all linehaul connections, Query Freight Office and Radio Room (Dispatch). Providing solid leadership across the operation, the role is responsible for delivering excellent service levels for CP’s customers and a positive support structure for the Franchise Partners.

Key Responsibilities

Manage all PUD activities, linehaul connections, Query Freight Office and Radio Room (Dispatch) across your operation.

Manage third party providers (Outside Hire/Contractors/Temps) to ensure compliant, reliable and cost-effective coverage.

Provide senior operational oversight and support to depot leadership teams, with travel to sites as required.

Effective operation, planning and maintenance of the Sortation Machine in the applicable depots.

Ensure optimisation for maximum throughput and staff are appropriately trained on use and safety protocols.

Lead an engaged culture within the Franchise partner group and the CP Operations Team committing to regular, relevant, pertinent and clear communication channels.





Ensure that the Franchisees & Operations team are all aligned towards our overall vision, as well as understanding the role they play and the impacts, they can make towards achieving this.

Manage the operation in line with budget and, when decision making, weigh up the cost versus benefit impact.

Achieve “on-time” performance targets through active engagement, compliance management and a continuous performance improvement culture.

Implement any national processes and improvement initiatives.

Lead, participate in and deliver local, state and national projects as needed which drive the goals of the business and overall performance.

Ensure safe systems of work across the operations and fleet departments and be responsible for the overall health and safety of all workers and relevant stakeholders.

Display a visible and tangible commitment to the improvement of health and safety systems, practices and culture, with safety at the forefront of every business decision made.

About You

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior operational leadership role in the Transport & Logistics industry with responsibility for P&L.;

Demonstrated ability to lead teams to deliver operational objectives whilst supporting the broader Company values, vision, mission and strategic plan.

Ability to provide key insights to your team with your tactical planning to ensure maximum efficiency and team effort is applied

Demonstrated ability to analyse financial data for results management.

A track record of achieving a safety culture supported by related metrics.

Demonstrated ability to manage safety compliance.

Intermediate Microsoft Excel competency

Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively and transparently to support broader Company objectives.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives and positively support change management to improve the business

Excellent communication skills, ability to articulate ideas clearly and appropriately in front of your leaders, teammates, Franchisees and other CP employees.
