We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Orthoptist to join our eye clinic in Melbourne, Australia. This role is ideal for candidates with strong clinical expertise, as well as proven management and administrative capabilities. You will work closely with ophthalmologists in a modern, well-equipped clinic, supporting both clinical operations and day-to-day practice management.

Perform visual function testing and comprehensive patient assessments
Conduct orthoptic and/or optometric evaluations
Assist ophthalmologists with patient management and surgical preparation
Perform diagnostic imaging and maintain accurate clinical records
Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care Administrative & Management Duties
Support daily clinic operations, including scheduling and workflow coordination
Maintain accurate billing, invoicing, and financial records
Manage patient accounts, including billing, and health fund claims
Prepare reports, correspondence, and referral letters
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate ordering of clinical supplies
Ensure efficient documentation and medical record management
Assist in improving clinic processes and overall service delivery Technical Skills & Knowledge
General ophthalmology assessments including:
Patient history taking
Visual acuity and subjective refraction
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
Visual field testing
IOL Master
Retinal photography
Ability to work independently while supporting clinicians in managing patient flow Key Attributes

Professional, reliable, and proactive attitude Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Optometry, Orthoptics, or a related field
At least 3 years of experience in an eye clinic or eye hospital Previous experience with administrative or clinic management duties
Strong English communication skills (IELTS 6 or equivalent) Visa & Relocation
Initial employment under Subclass 400 Temporary Work Visa (Australia)
Potential progression to Subclass 482 Temporary Skill Shortage Visa
