Position Title: Paid Search Manager

Reporting line: Search Director

Direct reports: Search Executive

Clients: ENGIE, Federation University, Rugby World Cup Experiences, Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation, Hino, any other new business IMPORTANCE OF THE ROLE

This role strengthens our search team capability by taking ownership of day‑to‑day delivery, optimisation, and client performance across a growing portfolio.

This role will assist the Search Director in continuing to ensure that Paid Search is an integral part of the digital offering at TMS.

This role plays a critical part in maintaining delivery quality, meeting SLAs, facilitating QA processes and supporting the ongoing training and development of the Search team. 3 BEST THINGS ABOUT THE ROLE

3–5 years’ experience in performance advertising across Paid Search within a media agency or similar environment. Demonstrated ability to manage campaign strategy, forecasting, pacing, optimisation, and performance‑driven analysis and reporting.

Experience with automated bid strategies, ad copywriting, A/B testing, and keyword and audience research. Technical capabilities include Value‑Based Bidding, data integrations via Data Manager, and Enhanced Conversions implementation. With support from the Paid Search Director, you will be responsible for developing and executing Paid Search, Performance Max, AI Max and Demand Gen campaigns to meet client objectives and KPIs.

Strong analytical skills, proficiency in measurement, and the ability to train junior team members are essential.



You are also expected to maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge in the fast‑evolving world of automation and performance media.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PAID SEARCH MANAGER

Own the planning, execution, optimisation and pacing of Paid Search campaigns across multiple clients, ensuring delivery meets SLAs and aligns with client objectives.

Oversee QA processes, maintain best‑practice account structures and ensure all work delivered by the team meets TMS quality standards.

Train, coach and upskill the Search Executive, building capability in insight generation, optimisation decision‑making and Search maturity frameworks. KEY MEASURES OF SUCCESS FOR THE PAID SEARCH MANAGER

Robust technical knowledge of traditional Paid Search and the broader SEM media landscape, including experience across PMAX, Demand Gen and AI Max

Demonstrate an understanding of the role of Paid Search in the media mix, and how it integrates into our client’s broader media and marketing goals.

Delivers ongoing optimisation, pacing management and account hygiene that consistently improves campaign efficiency, stability and outcomes.

Ensure the smooth running of projects and manage client expectations with Account Management and Performance teams to ensure integrated planning, smooth project delivery and consistent client communication.

Use Paid Search to identify and deliver unique and innovative solutions to meet clients’ business objectives and KPIs.

Keep up to date with industry developments and demonstrate an understanding of all areas of digital marketing.





Maintains fundamental platform certifications across Google Skillshop and Microsoft Learning Lab

Produces clear, accurate and actionable reporting across performance, competitive trends and budget pacing aligned to broader digital reporting standards.

Provides communication to clients on progress and outcome of buys and results, identifying rationale for future media schedules

Strong client-facing skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust through clear and timely, proactive communications.

Ensures work is delivered on time and to The Media Store’s high standard

Supports broader digital initiatives such as attribution modelling, measurement frameworks and new technology implementation from a Search perspective. KEY ATTRIBUTES:

Demonstrates strong technical knowledge of Google Ads, SA360, automation behaviours and AI‑driven Search trends, with the ability to apply best practices across complex accounts.

Able to interpret data, diagnose performance shifts and translate findings into clear, actionable insights that strengthen client understanding and decision‑making.

Actively tests new features, formats and betas to find performance improvements and first‑to‑market opportunities.

Proficient in Microsoft Office products – particularly Excel and PowerPoint

Have strong attention to detail

Communicates clearly and proactively with clients and internal teams

Be self-disciplined, balancing the need to work autonomously and as part of a team

Follow TMS processes but also be able to suggest improvements to the existing process, as we are always open to learning how to improve processes.

Manages competing deadlines, maintains structured workflows and ensures consistent application of Search processes and best‑practice frameworks.
