The Role:

We are seeking a dedicated Paralegal to join our team in St Leonards, This position is crucial for supporting our Medical Claims & Investigation Management team in managing claims, conducting research, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills and a keen attention to detail, contributing to the efficient operation of our legal processes.

Responsibilities:

- Investigate and progress allocated medico-legal matters in a timely, accurate and effective manner in accordance with organisational protocols.
- Ensure matters are actively managed, updated and progressed in line with documented procedures, service standards and timeframes.
- Respond professionally to enquiries from members, in-house legal staff, external lawyers, medical experts and independent experts.




- Conduct regular file reviews and recommend appropriate follow-up actions to support effective case outcomes.
- Support Case Managers in the management of medico-legal matters as directed, including administrative and operational assistance.
- Liaise with the Underwriting team to ensure underwriting protocols are adhered to in decision making processes.
- Provide administrative support to the High Cost Claims Committee and Advocacy Committee meetings, including preparing agendas, coordinating papers, taking minutes, and following up on action items.
- Assist in the preparation of responses to patient complaints and regulatory matters as directed.
- Assist Members who are subject to regulatory conditions throughout the compliance process.
- Assist Case Managers in preparation of reports and other case management documentation.
- Maintain and coordinate Legal Services Agreements and Bordereau Reports, including document management and liaison with relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain strict compliance with APRA requirements and relevant regulatory obligations at all times.
- Ensure accurate, complete and consistent use of the Case Management System (CMS) for recording, monitoring and reporting matters.
- Identify opportunities to enhance proactive file management and contribute to improved case management practices.
- Review policies, procedures,



processes and file lifecycles, and contribute to recommendations and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

- Formal insurance and/or legal qualifications would be beneficial, but not essential.
- At least 3 years' experience in a claims support role in the healthcare, insurance or legal sector.
- Experience with personal injury claims is highly desirable.
