Payroll is more than just numbers — it’s about making sure our people are paid accurately, on time and have a positive experience.
We’re looking for an experienced Payroll Officer who enjoys getting the detail right, solving problems and helping people. You’ll play an important role in making sure our team members across our clubs receive a seamless payroll experience.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with our Finance, People and Culture and operational teams. You’ll need to be comfortable working with awards, rosters, allowances and the occasional payroll puzzle — and enjoy helping managers and employees understand the ‘why’ behind their pay.
If you’re someone who likes numbers and people, this could be the role for you.
What you’ll be doing
- Process end-to-end payroll accurately and on time across multiple locations.
- Ensure payroll is processed in accordance with relevant awards, enterprise agreements, legislation and company policies.
- Review timesheets, rosters, leave, allowances, overtime, penalties and other payroll adjustments.
- Work closely with venue managers to resolve payroll queries and ensure accurate information is submitted.
- Respond to employee payroll enquiries with a helpful, people-first approach.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies — because nobody likes a payroll surprise!
- Complete payroll reconciliations and reporting.
- Assist with payroll-related audits and compliance requirements.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure confidentiality of employee information.
- Support new starters, transfers,
changes to employment conditions and terminations.
- Work closely with People & Culture and Finance to identify opportunities to improve payroll processes.
- Stay up to date with relevant payroll legislation, awards and industry requirements.
- Contribute to improving systems, processes and the overall employee payroll experience.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is great with numbers, but equally great with people.
You’ll ideally have
- Previous experience in a payroll role, preferably within Clubs or hospitality or another award-based environment.
- Sound knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and relevant modern awards.
- Experience working with payroll and/or rostering systems, TANDA experience highly desirable
- Robust attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with people at all levels.
- A genuine desire to help people and provide great internal customer service.
- The ability to manage deadlines and stay calm when things get busy.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to investigate issues rather than simply pass them on.
- A high level of confidentiality and integrity.
- A positive attitude and a sense of humour — payroll can be serious business, but that doesn’t mean we need to be serious all the time!
- Must be willing to obtain and hold a suitable National Police Check
What success looks like In this role, success isn’t just about getting the numbers right.
You’ll build strong relationships with our teams, become a trusted point of contact for payroll matters and help make payroll as simple and seamless as possible.
We’re looking for someone who can balance the numbers with the human side of payroll.
If you’re organised, curious, people-focused and enjoy being part of a collaborative team, we’d love to hear from you.
