We currently have a full-time opportunity for an experienced Plumbing & Building Service Leading Hand to join our Health and Education team at The Royal Children’s Hospital. The purpose of this role is to oversee and supervise the completion of work which requires the application of Plumbing & Building trade skills in a manner consistent with the high standards expected by our customer.
Hours and Roster
- Monday to Friday, with core hours between 6:30am and 4:30pm.
- 40-hour work week with accrued RDO
What You’ll Bring Education & Qualifications:
- Victorian Building Authority (VBA) Plumbing Licence
- VBA Main classes – Drainage, Mechanical Services, Roofing (stormwater), Sanitary, Water Supply
- VBA Special classes - Backflow Prevention, Thermostatic Mixing Valve
- Current first aid certificate (preferable)
- Work at Heights Qualification (preferable)
- Secure Work in Confined Space Qualification (preferable)
- Elevated Work Platform under 11m Qualification (preferable)
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years post-trade experience within a Healthcare, Commercial, or Industrial environment
- Supervising and supporting teams
- Preventative maintenance and installations on commercial and domestic plumbing systems
- Potable Water systems testing
- Sewer and transfer systems
- Potable and fire mains
- Valve servicing
- Hot water system maintenance and repairs, including Calorifiers
- Minor roof and guttering repairs
- Backflow and TMV testing
- Minor project works
Skills & Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Work Health Safety and risk management principles and practices.
- Knowledge of current industry standards relevant to Trades Services operations.
- Proficient in relevant aspects of the Plumbing trade.
- Sound knowledge in Building Services
- Ability to plan and produce preventative maintenance schedules
- Proven skills in managing direct reports and sub-contractors.
