Primary objective

You will provide sound evidence-based research, analysis and advice on policy issues related to the Northern Territory’s electricity systems and sustainable energy industries to deliver long-term affordable, secure, reliable and sustainable outcomes for the NT.

Context statement

Sustainable Energy Development develops, de-risks and coordinates delivery of energy policies, strategies and projects to strengthen electricity market design and create industry certainty. The division promotes investment and secures electricity service equity and accessibility.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Undertake research and prepare analysis on a broad range of policy, regulatory, project and industry development issues





and considerations impacting the NT electricity and sustainable energy sector.
- Work collaboratively with other government agencies, industry and stakeholders to develop and deliver effective policy and programs.
- Prepare briefs, correspondence, reports, presentations and papers for various audiences.
- Support the delivery of broader project facilitation, industry development and regulatory reform activities.
- Assist with the management of grant programs within the Sustainable Energy Development portfolio.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated experience in policy research, development and evaluation; including sound conceptual and analytical

skills to understand and deal with complex policy issues.
- High-level written communication skills and the ability to deliver clear and considered advice, including demonstrated ability preparing briefs, correspondence, reports, presentations and papers.
- Proven collaboration and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to establish and sustain productive working relationships, including with people from diverse cultures.
- Demonstrated ability to understand, translate and integrate information in short timeframes, and work as part of a small qualified team to deliver good outcomes.
- Demonstrated sound professional judgement and the ability to apply innovative thinking to identify options and generate solutions.

Desirable

1. Tertiary qualifications in public policy, economics, law or other relevant disciplines.
2. Demonstrated understanding of the national and local energy sector.
