Principal Compliance Officer

Ongoing - 35 hour working week

Hybrid and Flexible working arrangements - office location is flexible across our NSW locations.

Grade 11/12, salary starting at $154,231 plus superannuation

Applications close Thursday 20th of August The Principal Compliance Officer role sits within Revenue NSW. We are the state’s principal revenue management agency and are a part of the Department of Customer Service (DCS). We manage taxes, fines, debts and administer grants in a fair, efficient and timely manner. Through this we give back to the community and fund essential State services for the people of NSW.

This is a senior leadership role where you will protect revenue, while helping customers meet their obligations fairly and confidently. You will lead a large, skilled team across compliance and debt, shaping smarter, evidence-led programs that ensure the integrity of revenue collection and strengthen trust in government.

About the role

As the Principal Compliance Officer, you will:

Set the strategic direction for compliance and debt across Duties and Grants, ensuring strong revenue protection while managing impact to customers

Design and oversee end to end compliance programs and debt management, from proactive prevention through to complex investigations

Lead the application of the compliance and debt framework, ensuring consistency, quality and clear accountability across teams

Provide leadership and guidance on complex, high risk or sensitive matters

Build capability across the teams through coaching, clear standards and strong governance

Advise senior leaders with confidence, clarity and evidence

About You To be successful in this position you will demonstrate:

Confidence operating at senior levels and influencing decisions that matter

Sound judgement to balance legislation,



policy intent and customer impact The ability to design and operate compliance and debt programs that are proportionate, targeted and defensible

Experience in compliance, regulation or revenue administration

Leading people with clarity, calm and credibility A forward-thinking approach to Duties and Grants to drive continuous improvement

Working at DCS

35-hour working week, with opportunities for flex leave where additional hours are worked
