Process and Capital Projects Engineer

Murray River Pet Food specialises in high-quality pet food manufacturing. A forward-thinking regional organisation, we are a energetic Australian owned business leading the manufacturing industry.

We use state of the art air-drying technology to manufacture premium Australian pet food and treats for both private label and own brand lines. Murray River Pet Food is constantly researching and developing new processes to ensure our products are top quality, ground-breaking and accessible to the wholesale and retail markets and have recently implemented a multimillion-dollar upgrade to our facility.

Own the capital pipeline. Shape the plant. Make your mark.

As we invest in our next phase of growth, we're looking for a Process & Capital Projects Engineer to take ownership of our capital project pipeline and drive process optimisation across the site.

This is a rare opportunity to be the engineering authority on site — running your own capital projects end-to-end, with real budget accountability and the autonomy to shape how things are built and run.

The Role:

Based on site in Howlong, NSW and reporting to the Head of Manufacturing, you'll own both the planning and delivery of capital projects and play a lead role in lifting the performance of our production operations. You'll work across extrusion, baking, drying and packing, turning data and improvement opportunities into engineered, capitalised solutions that lift yield, throughput and consistency.

You'll get to:

- Develop and execute capital expenditure projects from concept through to delivery — safely, on time and on budget
- Manage contractors, OEMs and external consultants to deliver project outcomes

- Contribute to our 3–5 year capital planning
- Lead process design and optimisation initiatives, working closely with our Continuous Improvement, Quality, and R&D; teams
- Step into ownership of a specialised air-dried/dehydration production process, with structured, hands-on knowledge transfer from an experienced site expert over an extended handover period — a genuinely rare chance to build deep, specialist process expertise
- Mentor our operations leadership team in engineering and process design thinking

About You:

- Tertiary qualifications in Industrial/Process/Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline (preferred)
- Engineering or maintenance leadership experience within the FMCG industry
- A track record leading CAPEX programs and projects
- Manufacturing environment experience, with a genuine passion for operational excellence
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- CAD proficiency (AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar) is highly valued — outstanding candidates without this will still be considered
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the confidence to work across all levels of the business, from the plant floor to executive leadership
- A current driver's licence and full working rights in Australia

Why join us:

- Well-established FMCG manufacturer with a genuine commitment to continuous improvement
- Opportunity to own the engineering response on site
- Real career prospect in a supportive environment that encourages learning, ownership and growth

Applications close Wednesday 26th August 2026.
