About the role:
The Brainy Bunch is seeking an experienced AHPRA registered psychologist with Clinical Psychology or Neuropsychology area of practice endorsement to join our friendly multidisciplinary team in Norman Park, QLD as an independent contractor.
This role is focused on conducting comprehensive psychometric and cognitive assessments for children, adolescents & young adults to assist in the diagnosis and management of neurodevelopmental, psychiatric and neurological conditions.
Our clinic internally refers from our paediatric neurologists, paediatricians & child and adolescent psychiatrists. As well as receiving external referrals, providing a varied and rewarding caseload.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced psychologist who enjoys diagnostic work and values collaboration within a supportive, evidence-based environment.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive cognitive, academic and psychometric assessments using standardised assessment tools, including WISC, WIAT, MIGDAS, YDIVA +++
- Integrate assessment findings with developmental history, clinical interviews and behavioural observations.
- Prepare high-quality psychological assessment reports with clear diagnostic formulations and practical recommendations for families, schools and referring clinicians.
- Assess children, adolescents & young adults presenting with a broad range of neurodevelopmental, psychiatric and neurological conditions, including:
- ADHD
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Learning Disorders
- Intellectual Disability
- Anxiety and mood disorders
- Acquired Brain Injury
- Epilepsy
- A range of neurological and developmental presentations
- Liaise closely with referring paediatric neurologists, paediatricians, psychiatrists, GPs,
schools and allied health professionals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and collaborative care planning.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with AHPRA standards and ethical guidelines.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to a collaborative learning environment within the clinic.
About you You will be an experienced psychologist who enjoys assessment work and is passionate about supporting children and young people with a range of developmental, neurological and mental health presentations.
Essential requirements:
- Current general registration with AHPRA as a psychologist.
- Clinical Psychology or Neuropsychology Area of Practice Endorsement.
- Demonstrated experience with psychometric assessments.
- Excellent clinical interviewing, diagnostic formulation and report writing skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Highly desirable:
- Experience assessing children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders, as well as working with patients presenting with a range of psychiatric and neurological conditions, including acquired brain injury and epilepsy.
- Confidence integrating assessment findings from multiple sources to provide comprehensive diagnostic recommendations.
- Experience working collaboratively with medical specialists and allied health professionals.
