As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Reinforcing Steel Machine Operator to join our production team.
About the Role
This is a hands-on production role responsible for operating a range of reinforcing steel processing equipment to safely and efficiently manufacture reinforcing products to customer specifications.
You will play a key role in supporting production schedules, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring customer orders are delivered accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and program reinforcing steel processing machinery
- Read and interpret reinforcing schedules, bar bending schedules (BBS), production paperwork and engineering drawings
- Process reinforcing steel in accordance with production requirements
- Set up, operate and monitor automated and manual reinforcing equipment
- Complete quality inspections to ensure products meet specifications
- Perform daily machine checks and basic preventative maintenance
- Assist with loading, unloading and movement of reinforcing steel products
- Work closely with schedulers, supervisors and production teams to achieve production targets
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised work environment
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the business
Essential Skills & Experience To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated experience operating various reinforcing steel processing equipment and additional equipment such as:
- Manual cutters
- Manual benders
- Reinforcing steel fabrication equipment
You will also possess:
- Previous experience in reinforcing steel manufacturing or processing
- Ability to read and interpret reinforcing schedules and bar bending schedules
- Strong understanding of reinforcing steel products and manufacturing processes
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Strong commitment to workplace safety
- Reliable work ethic and positive attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- You must be Physically Fit
- You must be able to stand for extended periods
Desirable
- Forklift Licence
- Overhead Crane Licence or experience
- Experience with automated reinforcing machinery
- Experience working in a reinforcing steel fabrication workplace
- Knowledge of Australian Standards relating to reinforcing steel
