Salary: AUD $75,000 – $85,000 per annum plus superannuation About the Business No Names Italian Restaurant is a well-established Sydney restaurant providing fresh, home-style Italian food in a welcoming, customer-focused environment. Operating in a fast-paced hospitality and retail environment, the business requires effective management of customer service, product offerings, purchasing, stock, sales, pricing, marketing, staffing, financial transactions, suppliers and workplace compliance.

Position Overview The Retail Manager is responsible for organising and controlling the day-to-day operations of No Names Italian Restaurant, ensuring productive business performance, excellent customer service, effective workforce management and appropriate financial and inventory controls. The role includes determining product mix, stock levels and service standards; implementing purchasing and marketing policies; setting prices; promoting and selling goods and services; maintaining stock and financial records; undertaking budgeting; managing staff; and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities Retail Operations & Service Standards

- Plan, organise and control daily operations to achieve sales, customer service, productivity and business performance objectives.
- Determine product mix, stock levels and service standards based on customer demand, sales trends and operational requirements.
- Establish and monitor service standards to ensure efficient, consistent and professional customer service.
- Oversee opening and closing procedures and maintain appropriate presentation, cleanliness, operational and safety standards. Purchasing, Pricing & Marketing
- Formulate and implement purchasing policies and procedures to maintain suitable stock availability, quality and cost efficiency.
- Liaise and negotiate with suppliers regarding products, quality, pricing, availability and delivery arrangements.
- Set and review prices for goods and services, considering purchasing costs, operating expenses, customer demand, market conditions and profitability.
- Formulate and implement marketing policies and promotional initiatives to support sales and customer engagement.
- Promote and advertise the establishment's goods and services through suitable campaigns, promotions, special offers and customer communications. Sales & Customer Service
- Sell goods and services to customers and advise them on available products, menu offerings, services,



promotions and product use or suitability.
- Oversee customer-facing sales and service activities and ensure transactions are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain high customer service standards and provide accurate information about products and services.
- Respond professionally to customer enquiries, feedback and complaints and resolve service issues promptly.
- Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements to enhance satisfaction and encourage repeat business. Stock & Inventory Management
- Determine and maintain stock levels according to customer demand, sales patterns and operational requirements.
- Coordinate ordering, receipt, storage, rotation and control of food, beverages, packaging and operational supplies.
- Maintain accurate records of stock levels, purchases, stock movements, wastage and inventory usage.
- Conduct regular stocktakes, investigate discrepancies and implement appropriate corrective action.
- Monitor wastage and stock rotation and implement controls to minimise unnecessary losses.
- Ensure stock is stored and handled in accordance with applicable food safety and operational requirements.

Financial

Management & Budgeting

- Maintain accurate records of financial transactions, including sales, purchases, expenses and payments.
- Monitor point-of-sale transactions, cash handling, daily reconciliations and financial controls.
- Prepare and review sales, expenditure, stock and labour reports and other relevant operational documentation.
- Undertake budgeting for the establishment, including revenue, labour expenditure, purchasing costs, stock expenses and operating costs.
- Implement cost-control measures to support profitability and operational efficiency.
- Monitor sales performance and identify opportunities to improve revenue and financial outcomes.

Staff

Selection, Training & Supervision

- Control the selection, training and supervision of staff to maintain an appropriately skilled and effective workforce.
- Determine staffing requirements according to trading patterns, customer demand and operational needs.
- Recruit, interview and select suitable employees and coordinate staff induction.
- Prepare and manage rosters to maintain appropriate staffing coverage.




- Train employees in customer service, operational procedures, point-of-sale processes, workplace safety and business standards.
- Allocate duties, supervise employee performance and provide ongoing coaching, feedback and performance management. Compliance & Administration
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations across the establishment.
- Implement and monitor procedures to maintain a safe environment for employees and customers.
- Ensure employees comply with workplace safety, food safety, hygiene and internal operational procedures.
- Maintain operational records relating to staffing, stock, sales, financial transactions and business performance.
- Implement and monitor company policies, procedures and service standards.

Skills & Experience • Proven experience in retail management, restaurant operations, hospitality, food service or a comparable customer-focused environment.

- Experience managing product mix, stock levels, purchasing and service standards.
- Sound understanding of purchasing, pricing, marketing, sales and promotional activities.
- Experience maintaining stock and financial records and undertaking budgeting and cost control.
- Demonstrated leadership experience involving staff recruitment, training, rostering and supervision.
- Strong understanding of occupational health and safety requirements.
- Excellent customer service, communication, organisational, leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.

Qualifications & Experience • AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma; or

- At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
- In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
- Registration or licensing may be required where applicable.
- Experience using point-of-sale, inventory and workforce management systems is advantageous.

Work Environment The role requires active involvement in daily restaurant operations, including customer service, sales, purchasing, stock, staffing, budgeting, marketing and compliance. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong leadership, commercial awareness, time management and the ability to maintain high standards of customer service, safety and operational efficiency in a busy environment.
