Position Overview:

A Demi Chef is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes while supporting the Chef de Partie in the day-to-day operation of a designated kitchen section. The role involves maintaining food quality and safety standards, assisting with stock management, and providing guidance to junior kitchen staff. This position requires strong technical cooking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a busy kitchen environment.

About the Role:

- Anticipate and attend to the guest’s needs and desires immediately.




- Liaise on a daily basis with the Chef de Partie to formulate daily priorities.
- Work in the kitchen as directed on a daily basis.
- Ensure that your work is carried out in a timely and efficient fashion.
- Minimise wastage at all times.
- Maintain a clean and safe working area at all times.
- Assist in training and development of junior staff members.
- Act on behalf of the Chef de Partie should he/she be absent from the kitchen.
- Engaged to perform general or specialised cooking, butchering, baking or pastry cooking duties or supervises and trains other cooks and kitchen employees.
- Ensure that the established standard operating procedures are followed at all times.
- Help produce an environment of learning and professionalism.
- Carry out any other related duties as directed by the senior Chefs.
- Maintain your self-appearance in accordance with the hotel’s grooming standards.
- Maintain a harmonious relationship with other members of the service team.
- Maintain an acceptable degree of knowledge with regard to food product.
- Comply with all of the established hotel operational policies & procedures.
- Have a full knowledge of,and practice all of the hotel’s established workplace health and safety guidelines (WH&S;).

Skills and Experience:

- Strong culinary knowledge and cooking techniques.
- Flexibility to work across all hotel kitchens.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.




- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Leadership potential and ability to mentor junior staff.
- Ability to perform effectively in a quick-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
- Several years of experience in a commercial kitchen.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and cook a variety of dishes.
- Experience working within a specific kitchen section is desirable.
- Availability to work a flexible roster across 7 days including late nights & Public Holidays.
- You will need your own transport to get to work as we are not on a public transport route.
- Must have the legal right to work in Australia.
