Role Description The Sales & Marketing Specialist is a part-time remote role responsible for promoting The Kernel Lab’s programs, resources, and services to farmers, agronomists, and industry partners. Day-to-day tasks include identifying and nurturing leads, conducting outreach via email, phone, and virtual meetings, and supporting the development of marketing campaigns that highlight research findings and extension offerings.

The specialist will help create and distribute concise marketing materials, manage key communication channels, and contribute to digital engagement efforts such as webinars, newsletters, and social media. This role also involves tracking engagement metrics, maintaining contact databases, and collaborating with the research and extension team to ensure messaging is accurate and aligned with program goals. Occasional coordination of training events or demonstrations may be required, with a focus on transparent, accessible presentation of agronomic insights.

Qualifications

- Strong Communication and Customer Service skills to interact professionally with farmers, agronomists,



and industry partners.
- Demonstrated ability in Sales and Sales Management to generate interest, build relationships, and support conversion of leads into program participation.
- Experience delivering Training or informational sessions, preferably in an academic, agricultural, or technical context.
- Familiarity with marketing principles, including basic digital marketing, content creation, and campaign support.
- Interest in or background with agriculture, agronomy, or related fields; experience working with producer-facing organizations is a plus.
- Proficiency with common business and communication tools (e.g., email platforms, CRM or contact databases, video-conferencing software).
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage time effectively, and coordinate with a multidisciplinary team.
- Relevant education in business, marketing, communications, agriculture, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
