Position Information

The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools. About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and organised individual to join our school as part of our School Administrative and Support Staff (SASS) team. While this is a SASS role, the primary focus will be working as a science laboratory assistant. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the school’s science laboratories, including preparing materials for practical lessons, maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and assisting teachers and students during science activities.

Please note: While your main duties will be within the science laboratory, there may be times when you are required to work in other areas as part of the broader SASS team.

Essential Requirements

- Working with Children Check Clearance




- First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake First Aid training.
- Administration of Medications – training to be provided based on student needs.

Selection Criteria

- Demonstrated capacity to work effectively as part of a team.
- Administration skills including a knowledge of computer software programs such as Microsoft Office.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work with teachers and students.
- Ability to perform tasks in one or more of the following areas: office procedures; accounting procedures; sick bay; hospitality and /or design and technology; science.
