Role Description The Senior Bookkeeper is a part time/full-time role based in Melbourne, VIC, with a hybrid work arrangement that allows some work from home. This role is responsible for end-to-end bookkeeping, including processing daily transactions, maintaining accurate ledgers, and preparing reconciliations for multiple small business clients.
The Senior
Bookkeeper will prepare and review financial statements, manage BAS and other compliance obligations, and ensure timely, accurate reporting aligned with Cotchy®’s standards. Day-to-day activities include overseeing journal entries, managing payroll and accounts payable/receivable,
and working with cloud-based accounting software to streamline processes. The role also involves collaborating with clients to clarify their financial position, resolving queries, improving workflows, and supporting the integration and maintenance of accounting systems.
Qualifications
- Strong bookkeeping skills with experience in managing ledgers, reconciliations, and Journal Entries (Accounting).
- Proficiency in preparing and reviewing Financial Statements and supporting compliance reporting.
- Hands-on experience with modern Accounting Software and cloud-based finance platforms.
- Solid understanding of Finance principles, including cash flow, budgeting, and profitability analysis.
- Relevant qualification in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Finance (e.g., Certificate IV, Diploma, or degree).
- Experience in a senior or client-facing bookkeeping role within small business environments.
- High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and ability to manage multiple client accounts.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to explain financial information in clear, accessible terms.
- Comfort with hybrid working arrangements and using online tools to collaborate with team members and clients.
- Knowledge of Australian taxation and ASIC compliance requirements is highly beneficial.
