Summary The Senior Critical Engineering Manager is a senior operational leadership role within STACK’s Critical Operations team, responsible for leading critical engineering operations across STACK Data Centre environments.

The role works closely with Critical Operations leadership to supervise, support, and develop engineering teams responsible for the operation, maintenance, performance, and resilience of mechanical, electrical, fire life safety, base building, and other critical Data Centre systems. Direct reports include Engineering Managers and Coordinators.

The Senior Critical Engineering Manager is also the primary Critical Engineering point of contact for STACK Construction and Delivery teams. This includes oversight of construction-related activities that affect existing infrastructure, operational acceptance of newly delivered Data Centres or new phases, review and acceptance of commissioning documentation, O&M; manuals, handover packages, and post-construction records.

This role is accountable for driving safe, reliable, compliant and high-performing Data Centre operations, with a focus on safety, availability, communication, team performance, technical standards, continuous improvement and operational readiness.

This role directly supports STACK’s commitment to 100% uptime and a concierge-level customer service experience, ensuring risk is proactively managed, planned works are executed safely, and customer communications are clear, timely and professional.

What You'll Be Responsible For

- Lead Critical Engineering operations and develop Engineering Managers, Coordinators and technical teams within a safety-first, high-performance culture.




- Own the performance and resilience of electrical, mechanical, cooling, fire life safety, controls and base-building infrastructure supporting 24/7 Data Centre operations.
- Develop and improve preventive maintenance plans, operational procedures, technical standards and vendor maintenance agreements.
- Oversee BMS, EPMS, SCADA and other monitoring tools to support accurate system visibility, operational efficiency and energy improvement.
- Act as the Critical Engineering lead during incidents and emergency events, driving troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and clear stakeholder communication.
- Direct operational projects, lifecycle replacements, capital improvements and maintenance contractors while protecting live-site operations.
- Own commissioning and operational handover from Construction and Delivery, including design review, testing acceptance, O&M; manuals, drawings, spares, defects and maintenance arrangements.
- Build customer confidence through clear technical communication, reliable delivery and concierge-level service.
- Maintain compliance, operational reporting, CAPEX and OPEX forecasting, vendor performance and continuous improvement.

What You'll Bring

- 6-8 years’ experience in a Data Centre or related Mission Critical operations role, including leadership of engineering managers, coordinators or technical teams.
- 3-5 years’ experience administering and managing facility preventive maintenance programmes.




- Extensive knowledge of HV and LV distribution, switchgear, transformers, UPS, STS, ATS, batteries, generators and power distribution systems.
- Extensive knowledge of chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, pumps, leak detection, VFDs, cooling towers, controls, BMS and fire detection and suppression systems.
- Strong project management, commissioning, technical scope, handover and operational-acceptance capability.
- Competence with CMMS, BMS, DCIM and monitoring systems, together with advanced Excel, reporting and presentation skills.
- Relevant backgrounds may include Data Centres or comparable Mission Critical sectors such as power generation, pharmaceutical manufacturing, oil and gas or aviation, where complex live infrastructure and operational readiness are central.
- A bachelor’s degree, equivalent experience or an electrical or mechanical trade qualification is preferred; dual trade and HV Authorised Person status are advantageous.
- Australian work authorisation, flexibility for after-hours and on-call support, and the ability to meet applicable background or security requirements.
