Company
Our client is a large global organisation with an established presence across Australia and New Zealand and a significant operational footprint.
The business is entering an important period of change, with renewed strategic focus globally and locally and continued investment in strengthening its Finance function.
This creates an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accountant to join a complex, asset-intensive environment where Finance plays a central role in supporting operational performance, governance and future growth.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of Finance, this role will take ownership of key areas across financial accounting, reporting, budgeting and controls, with particular exposure to joint ventures, partnerships and project-based activity.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and reporting cycle, while partnering closely with Finance, Operations and external stakeholders to improve the quality, transparency and efficiency of financial processes.
This is not simply a month-end role. You’ll also be encouraged to challenge existing processes, identify opportunities for automation and contribute to the continued evolution of the Finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead month-end close, complex journals, reconciliations and variance analysis
- Prepare group reporting and support statutory reporting under AASB/IFRS
- Own budgeting and forecasting processes end-to-end
- Manage accounting across projects, JVs and partnerships
- Maintain strong financial controls and general ledger integrity
- Partner with Finance and Operations stakeholders on reporting and performance
- Drive process improvement,
automation and better use of SAP and BI tools
About You
You’ll be an experienced Financial Accountant who is technically strong, commercially minded and comfortable operating in a complex environment.
You’ll ideally bring
- 7–10 years’ experience across financial accounting and reporting
- Experience within a large multinational, listed or similarly complex organisation
- Strong month-end and statutory reporting capability
- Demonstrated experience running budgeting processes end-to-end
- Exposure to project accounting, construction, infrastructure or asset-intensive environments highly regarded
- Strong SAP experience
- Advanced Excel skills
- Sound knowledge of AASB/IFRS, GST/BAS and FBT
- Confidence working with operational and senior finance stakeholders
Just as importantly, you’ll bring curiosity, initiative and a desire to broaden your career beyond technical accounting over time.
What's on Offer
- Salary circa $130,000 superannuation bonus
- Hybrid working arrangement
- Exposure to a large, complex global business
- Opportunity to contribute to a broader Finance transformation agenda
- Strong visibility across Finance and Operations
- Long-term career development and progression
- Reliable organisation with significant scale and investment
This role will suit an ambitious Senior Financial Accountant who wants more than a traditional reporting position, someone looking to broaden their exposure, influence how Finance operates and position themselves for future leadership opportunities.
