PURPOSE OF THE ROLE The Redion ANZ Finance team is seeking an experienced Insurance Accountant to oversee and manage insurance accounting activities in New Zealand. Operating within a dual country environment (Australia and New Zealand), this role requires strong technical expertise, excellent stakeholder management, and the ability to work effectively within a complex, international organisation.

The Insurance Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring full compliance with local accounting requirements and delivering high quality insurance technical accounting. The role is particularly important as RBNZ requires New Zealand reporting to be fully separated across all deliverables up to Board level, significantly increasing the volume and complexity of work.

This position will also support the daily implementation of insurance technical accounting processes—including premiums, commissions, claims, and technical reserves—within the context of our legal framework transformation and the rollout of a new version of the accounting tool.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Capital Calculation & Reporting

1. · Perform and review the Capital Plan and ICAAP for Australia and New Zealand.
2. · Support capital calculations and reporting requirements under the New Zealand regulatory framework.
3. · Develop and run ICAAP scenarios, including sensitivity and scenario analysis.
4. · Conduct stress testing for the Prescribed Capital Amount (PCA).
5. · Contribute to Recovery Planning, including documentation and scenario development.
6. · Ensure compliance with all regulatory capital standards and internal governance requirements.
7. · Prepare capital analysis, insights, and commentary for senior management and Board reporting.

Regulatory & Group Coordination

1. · Liaise with APRA, RBNZ, and internal regulatory teams as required.
2.



· Coordinate with Group Finance and Group Risk on capital methodologies, assumptions, and reporting requirements.
3. · Support regulatory submissions and respond to regulator queries.

Financial & Technical Analysis

1. · Contribute to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of capital models and methodologies.
2. · Analyse capital drivers, trends, and sensitivities across the ANZ portfolio.
3. · Provide insights to support capital planning, forecasting, and strategic decision‑making.

Systems, Controls & Transformation

1. · Support the implementation and testing of system enhancements related to capital calculations and reporting.
2. · Contribute to the design and execution of internal controls over capital reporting.
3. · Participate in finance transformation initiatives impacting capital, reporting, or regulatory processes.

Ad‑hoc Responsibilities

1. · Provide analytical support to the Head of Capital and Investment.
2. · Assist with cross‑functional projects involving Finance, Risk, Actuarial, and Group teams.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

Technical & Skilled Skills

1. · Strong understanding of insurance accounting principles, including IFRS 17.
2. · Experience with technical accounting processes such as premiums, commissions, claims, and reserves.
3. · Ability to work effectively in a dual‑country, multi‑stakeholder environment.
4. · Experience with system testing or finance transformation projects is an advantage.
