JS Careers is excited to be recruiting a Senior Legal Counsel chance for a global Investment Bank operating in the Australian market. Our client is a looking for a VP or Director level (8-12yrs+ PQE) financial markets lawyer with experience covering Derivatives & Structured Products. They will also consider someone who is an experienced Derivatives Negotiator.

You will be a trusted business advisor, providing commercial legal advice on structuring of complex financial products and regulatory advice.

Suitable candidates are sought from either:

- Current in-house roles within the financial services sector - strong preference for candidates with exposure to financial markets businesses;
- Leading Australian or global private practice firms, with either general corporate and commercial experience (financial markets focus) or capital markets advisory experience;
- Australian or global regulatory bodies or regulatory advisory practices.

Duties of the role will include:

- Provide commercial legal advice on structuring complex financial products;
- Experience in drafting and negotiating derivatives trading documentation, including ISDAs.
- Finance linked hedging and deal contingent hedging transactions,



including underlying facility agreements, inter-creditor and security agreements.
- Responding to regulatory queries as and when required;
- Providing regular reports on regulatory activities and escalate material issues as required.

Suitable experience will include:

- 8-12yrs+ PQE financial markets lawyer with experience covering Derivatives, FICC and/or Swaps products;
- Deep experience with ISDA and other derivatives trading documentation.
- Experience operating at a senior level in financial markets from either an in-house, private practice or regulatory context;
- Understanding of the legal, operational, compliance and regulatory issues arising in financial markets;
- Experience dealing with regulators, lawyers and market participants, demonstrating the ability to leverage personal as well as professional networks;
- Experience implementing corporate governance and compliance practices;
- Strong integrity, disciplined work ethic a self starter attitude.
