The Company
With a head office on the fringe of Melbourne’s CBD, and with operational sites spread across Melbourne, our client is a high performing, rapidly growing Australian organisation. They are a large entrepreneurial group of businesses, primarily within wholesale and retail space.
The Role
Reporting directly to a well credentialed Head of Finance and with direct exposure to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be a vital member of the finance team. You will have 2 direct reports and will be responsible for ensuring their ongoing professional development
Your key duties will include, but will not be restricted too:
- Provide financial analysis, insights and stakeholder Advisory
- Create and maintain complex financial models in Excel (and other analytical platforms as required) to support forecasting, budgeting and business cases
- Month end and board reporting. The monthly end close process is led from end to end and culminates with the execution of the Board Pack, from preparation and analysis through to commentary.
- Management of the budgeting and forecasting process.
- Provide timely analysis and advice to stakeholders, including monthly performance tracking, variance analysis, and identification of drivers, risks and opportunities across business units
- Deliver profitability, cost and trend analysis (e.g., customer/product/project margin, overheads, price/volume/mix) with clear recommendations
- Prepare and review business cases and investment analysis (as required), including scenario and sensitivity analysis
- Maintain integrity of the general ledger
Successful candidate.
In order to be successful in this role, the following will be favourably looked upon:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, commerce, information systems or similar
- CA/CPA qualifications,
- Experience to hit the ground running within a commercial environment. You will ideally have worked in similar role in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to partner with the business and provide relevant commercial advice
- Confidence in Board level report preparation
- Advanced Microsoft Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A positive, pro-active problem solver with high levels of attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a small team.
- Strong analytical skills and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and requirements
