About the Opportunity
Join the Corporate Bookkeeping team within our global mid-tier accounting and advisory firm. Due to continued growth and new leadership, we are seeking a highly capable finance professional to take ownership of a diverse corporate client portfolio.
This role offers the technical complexity of multi-entity clients and CA-led mentorship, combined with the supportive, collaborative culture of a mid-tier practice. It is an ideal opportunity for an experienced professional looking to transition from a smaller firm or agency into a broader, advisory-focused role where they can partner with clients and further develop their career.
Key Responsibilities In this client-facing role, you will act as the external finance function for your portfolio, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely financial delivery.
- Outsourced Finance Management: Manage the end-to-end finance function for a dedicated portfolio. This includes month-end processes, AP/AR management, cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts (P&L; and Balance Sheet).
- Compliance & Payroll: Ensure strict adherence to Australian compliance requirements, including the preparation of BAS/IAS, and managing full payroll processing (STP Phase 2, payroll tax, WorkCover, and superannuation).
- Systems & Process Optimisation: Set up new clients, maintain charts of accounts, and assist clients in modernising and improving their cloud accounting systems (primarily Xero) and internal processes.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for client financial queries, attend client meetings, and collaborate closely with our Business Advisory, Family Office, and Tax teams to deliver integrated outcomes.
- Mentorship & Quality Control:
Review bookkeeping and compliance work completed by intermediate and offshore team members, providing constructive feedback to ensure firm standards are consistently met.
Candidate Profile We are looking for a proactive, highly organised professional who thrives in a multi-client environment and is looking for a long-term role where their technical expertise is valued.
- 5+ years of experience in a senior outsourced finance, cloud accounting, or comprehensive bookkeeping role.
- Proven experience managing multiple clients concurrently within an accounting firm, bookkeeping agency, or professional services environment is essential.
- Completion of a recognised accounting or bookkeeping qualification.
- Advanced skills in Xero (Certification preferred) and Excel, with a solid aptitude for cloud accounting ecosystems (MYOB experience is advantageous).
- Comprehensive, practical understanding of Australian statutory compliance (BAS, STP, payroll, superannuation, WorkCover).
- Prior experience reviewing the work of junior or offshore team members is highly regarded.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the confidence to liaise effectively with corporate clients, business owners, and senior internal stakeholders.
Why Join Us? We offer a stable, supportive environment where technical capability and accountability are rewarded. As part of our team, you will have access to:
- Professional Development: Clear progression pathways within a global mid-tier network, including structured technical training and exposure to CA-led advisory work.
- High-Quality Client Base: Ownership of complex, multi-entity corporate clients that provide excellent technical exposure
- Strategic Impact: The opportunity to influence process development and quality standards as our function continues to scale.
- Flexibility & Wellbeing: A supportive hybrid working arrangement based in a modern Melbourne CBD office.
