The opportunity
Red Empire Media is looking for a Senior Producer to take ownership of how its productions are planned and delivered.
The mission is to manage the planning and execution of productions so that projects are delivered efficiently, clients are well supported, and the Directors can focus on growing the business. Alongside that, you nurture the client relationships you inherit and identify the opportunities that generate recent work.
You are the person clients deal with, and the person the crew and the post-production team work around.
What you will run
Production management is yours. You own the scheduling and delivery of projects from pre-production through to completion, so jobs are delivered on time and on budget. That extends to crew and resource coordination: calendars, call sheets, bookings, travel, equipment and crew allocation, managed to maximise utilisation and minimise bottlenecks. You negotiate rates with freelancers and trial new crew to build out a reliable bench.
Client communication sits with you as well. You maintain regular contact with clients, manage expectations, and make sure projects are delivered with exceptional service. Inside the business you coordinate with Pedro and the post-production team so handovers are smooth and the workflow between filming and editing stays efficient.
Business development is part of the role rather than an extra. You nurture existing client relationships and identify opportunities for additional work, so the production team is consistently busy. You also assist with quotes and project briefs, and keep job notes and schedules accurate.
What success looks like
- Projects delivered on time and within budget, or adjustments discussed with the client.
- Call sheets and project briefs thorough, and projects documented and handed to post-production smoothly.
- Client enquiries acknowledged promptly and standard quotes provided within one business day.
- Strong relationships maintained with key government and corporate accounts
- Upsell opportunities identified and converted where appropriate.
- Shoots staffed in advance, and edits falling within quoted hours.
- Accurate timesheet reporting, and profit increased as part of this hire.
Who we are looking for Five years of similar production experience, with the ability to critically review photography and video, and a working knowledge of quality video production, photography, lighting and industry techniques.
You are an extremely good communicator, written and verbal. You are well presented, enthusiastic, and comfortable presenting at high level meetings. You are a people person and a team player who can resolve conflict, are well organised, comfortable working autonomously with our production-management systems, and able to problem solve so clients get the best result for their production.
This job achieves its results through other people. It calls for a warm, engaging communicator who wins buy-in rather than issues instructions, who is comfortable meeting new people regularly, and who involves others in decisions rather than making them alone. The pace is fast and the work is varied, with several projects running at the same time, so it suits someone who wants that rather than tolerates it. At the same time the detail has to be right, quickly and accurately.
You are organised, proactive, accountable and communicative. You are sales and growth focused. You are adaptable and emotionally intelligent, able to build positive relationships across different personalities, communication styles and levels of technical expertise. And you stay calm under pressure, holding your composure and finding solutions when priorities change.
