ABOUT THE ROLE:
Reporting to EPIS Nurse, the Social and Lifestyle Worker plays a critical role in enhancing the quality of the life for our clients by providing personalized support and facilitating social and recreational activities. This position involves working closely with clients to understand their needs, preferences and goals and assisting them in engaging with their community and pursuing fulfilling activities.
This position requires someone who is friendly, outgoing, engaging and who will plan fun, culturally appropriate activities and outings with our clients including overnight desert respite trips to enable clients to maintain connections to Country.
This role will include travelling to our satellite locations of Tom Price and Marble Bar.
JOB TASKS:
- To design and implement social, recreational and leisure activities that cater to the interests and abilities of clients.
- Organizing group events and activities and promote social interaction and community involvement.
- Responsible for facilitating day trips and extended overnight trips with Clients
- Arranging internal and external activities both group and individual.
- Ensuring all activity equipment are stored neatly and securely.
- Organizing pampering sessions with clients, nail care and hand massage.
- Organizing outdoor picnics and BBQ with clients.
- Responsible for creating activity calendar for the Day Centre in consultation with the Day Centre Coordinator and ensuring activity calendar is displayed in Day Centre.
- General assistance to other support workers at the day centre if required
YOUR SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE WILL BE ASSURED BY HAVING:
- High level of communication skills.
- Proven experience with similar role.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team setting.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, organize and meet strict deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and resolve conflict and to manage own time.
- Someone who has a positive, friendly attitude and enjoys engaging with others.
- Someone who is responsible and has a focused mindset.
- Drive and ambition to make a difference.
- Can provide a current and valid Police Certificate dated within the last six months.
- Full WA Driver’s License is a must.
- Has full working rights in Australia.
