We're looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager – Environmental Assessment to join our Rural Water Efficiency Project (RWEP) team and play a key role securing the statutory approvals that will enable the successful delivery of this landmark program.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a complex infrastructure project that will have a lasting impact on our customers, communities and the environment.

About the project

The Rural Water Efficiency Project is a landmark investment jointly funded by the Australian Government and Coliban Water. The program will modernise and optimise the Greater Bendigo rural water network, improving water efficiency and service delivery for more than 1,150 rural customers while strengthening long-term water security across the region.

About the role:

Reporting to the Manager Planning & Decommissioning, you will lead the environmental planning and statutory approvals program across this significant infrastructure project. Working closely with project teams, consultants, regulators, Traditional Owners and key stakeholders, you'll provide expert advice to ensure environmental and cultural heritage requirements are successfully integrated into project planning and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Senior Project Manager – Environmental Assessments, you will:

- Lead environmental impact assessments and statutory approvals.
- Coordinate environmental and cultural heritage assessments across multiple projects.
- Manage consultants and specialist technical advisors.
- Build strong partnerships and negotiate beneficial outcomes with regulators, Traditional Owners and community stakeholders.
- Provide strategic environmental advice throughout project planning and delivery.
- Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, risks and reporting.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, reports and tender specifications.




- Identify opportunities to improve environmental outcomes while supporting successful project delivery.

About you:

You'll be a highly motivated and collaborative senior project manager who enjoys navigating complex regulatory frameworks and building trusted relationships.

You'll bring:

- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Engineering, Water Resources or a related discipline.
- Significant experience managing complex environmental or infrastructure projects.
- Solid knowledge of environmental legislation, statutory approvals and regulatory processes.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Experience working with government agencies, consultants and community stakeholders.
- Outstanding project management, planning and organisational skills.
- The ability to balance technical expertise with practical, customer-focused solutions.

Experience within the water, infrastructure or utilities sectors, particularly in environmental planning and approvals, will be highly regarded.

Salary:

The salary and conditions for this position will be as per the Coliban Water Enterprise Agreement 2021 Band 5 $115,162 - $139,851 plus superannuation salary range will be offered to the successful candidate commensurate with their skills and experience.
