Approach Consulting is looking for a Financial Manager for a full-time role on a Defence client site in Canberra. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows Defence financial frameworks inside out and wants to bring that expertise to a program that matters.
You'll manage the full financial lifecycle of Defence projects — from budget tracking, forecasting, and Additional/Budget Estimates submissions, through to transactional finance (invoicing, purchase orders, accruals, ERP management), and on to project closure and capitalisation reporting.
You'll also provide funds availability advice to Project Managers, support business case development and cost modelling, and ensure everything is delivered in line with the Defence Financial Management Framework and DPAM.
Key responsibilities:
- Budget, forecasting,
and financial planning across the project lifecycle
- Transactional finance and ERP management
- Project financial reporting, capitalisation, and closure
- Stakeholder engagement and financial guidance to Project Managers
What you'll bring:
- Solid experience in Defence financial management, with DPAM knowledge essential
- A background in budgeting, forecasting, and project financial reporting in a government or Defence-adjacent setting
- Comfort working independently on a client site
