We’re looking for a creative and motivated Produce Second in Charge (2IC) to join our Pasadena team. Working closely with the Produce Department Manager, you’ll help lead the team, maintain exceptional standards and support the Department’s continued growth.

About the role

As Produce 2IC, you’ll play a hands-on leadership role in the daily operation of the department. You’ll bring energy, creativity and a strong eye for quality while helping the team deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Supporting the Produce Department Manager with daily operations

- Leading, motivating and developing the produce team

- Maintaining outstanding standards of freshness, quality and presentation

- Creating attractive, inspiring and commercially effective displays

- Identifying opportunities to grow sales and improve the product range

- Managing stock rotation, availability and waste

- Supporting ordering, inventory control and department planning

- Ensuring food safety, workplace safety and store procedures are followed

- Delivering friendly, knowledgeable and attentive customer service

- Stepping up to lead the department when the Department Manager is unavailable





About you

You are a positive, hands-on leader who takes pride in fresh produce and enjoys creating memorable retail experiences.

You will ideally have:

- Experience in a produce, fresh food, supermarket or similar retail environment

- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience

- A genuine passion for product quality, freshness and presentation

- Creativity and strong visual merchandising skills

- A commercial mindset with a focus on sales, growth and reducing waste

- Robust communication and people skills

- The ability to remain organised and effective in a fast-paced environment

- Flexibility to work across a supermarket roster, including weekends and public holidays

- A collaborative approach and the confidence to support and lead a team
