About the role
Anti-Slip Treatment, Sealing and Coating Technicians prepare and treat floor surfaces to Unimat's documented methods and quality standards — safely, consistently and on program. Every treated surface is verified by slip testing, so the quality of your preparation and application is measured, visible and directly tied to Unimat's reputation with clients and head contractors.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for treatment: cleaning, degreasing, masking and protection of adjacent finishes.
- Apply anti-slip treatments to tiles, stone, concrete and other hard floor surfaces strictly to Unimat's application methods, dwell times and neutralisation procedures.
- Apply penetrating and topical sealers to treated and untreated surfaces as specified.
- Carry out associated works including pressure cleaning, scrubbing and surface remediation.
- Support the Coatings Team on epoxy, urethane and water-based coating projects when scheduled.
- Following all site access, induction and safety direction when working in office.
- Complete works within fixed possession times — set up, deliver and demobilise to program every shift.
- Complete job records in ServiceM8: before/after photos, areas treated, materials used and any site issues, before leaving site.
- Flag surface conditions that may affect treatment outcomes to the Lead Technicians before proceeding.
- Work to SWMS and site-specific requirements at all times; wear PPE prescribed for chemical handling and night works.
About you
- Reliable and punctual — night crews depend on every member turning up, every shift.
- Comfortbale working day, afternoon or night shifts.
- Physically fit for manual work: kneeling, lifting, pressure cleaning and working through night shifts.
- Current NSW driver licence (manual an advantage) and White Card, or willingness to obtain before commencement.
- Able to follow documented methods precisely — dwell times and neutralisation steps are not approximate.
- Comfortable working in small crews on live commercial and rail sites, taking direction from Lead Technicians and site staff.
- Current RIW (Rail Industry Worker) card
- Experience in floor treatments, tiling, stone care, pressure cleaning, commercial cleaning, waterproofing or coatings.
- Epoxy, urethane or line-marking application experience (for cross-team work with the Coatings Team).
