About us

Global Group comprises four specialist brands: Global Engineering & Construction, Global Electrical & Instrumentation, Global Energy Australia and MFE. As a proudly Australian-owned business, we deliver engineering and construction solutions across the energy, resources and infrastructure sectors.

Our teams support major projects across Australia, partnering with clients to deliver critical infrastructure and services that power communities and industries. With a strong focus on safety and collaboration, we’ve built a reputation for delivering quality outcomes while creating an environment where our people can thrive.

Joining Global Group means becoming part of a growing organisation where you’ll be supported, valued and given the opportunity to make a genuine impact.

About the Role

Global Group is seeking an experienced Brisbane based Project Controls Lead to take ownership of a strategically important, Group-wide function spanning four businesses.

Reporting directly to the COO and working closely with the CFO, Executive Leadership Team, General Managers and project teams, you’ll have the mandate to establish a consistent, best-practice approach to project controls across the Group.

This isn’t a role where you’ll inherit a finished framework and simply maintain it. With foundational work already underway, you’ll take the lead in defining, implementing and continuously improving how we approach cost control, forecasting, reporting and commercial performance across our businesses.

Initially, your focus will be on strengthening cost control and cost reporting, before broadening the framework and capability as the function evolves.

With purpose, respect and a driven mindset, you’ll contribute by:

- Lead the development and implementation of a Group-wide project controls framework, establishing consistent standards, governance and reporting methodologies.
- Drive greater rigour across cost control,

forecasting and project cost reporting, providing clear and meaningful commercial insights to leadership.
- Partner with project and operational teams to improve project performance, identify risk early and strengthen commercial outcomes.
- Lead the integration and standardisation of project controls processes and systems across four businesses, balancing consistency with operational requirements.
- Build project controls capability across the Group, initially leading a small direct team while acting as the functional subject matter expert across the wider business.
- Champion continuous improvement across project controls, working closely with senior leaders to embed sustainable processes that support the Group’s continued growth.

Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role:

We’re looking for someone with the depth of experience to set the standard, but who still enjoys being close enough to the detail to make things happen.

- 10+ years’ experience in project controls and/or commercial leadership within the Australian construction industry, ideally within a Tier 2 contractor environment.
- Demonstrated expertise across cost control, project cost reporting, forecasting and contract/commercial management.
- Proven experience developing, implementing or significantly improving project controls frameworks, systems and processes.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to turn project data into meaningful insights that support executive decision-making.
- The credibility and stakeholder capability to influence across executive leadership,

operational teams and multiple businesses.
- A practical, hands-on leadership style, with experience leading multidisciplinary teams and ideally exposure to project delivery environments.

Why this role?

This is a rare chance to put your fingerprints on a function from the ground up.

You’ll step into a business that wants change, with executive sponsorship, foundational consulting work already underway and genuine appetite across our four businesses to consolidate and improve.

You’ll have the autonomy to take what you’ve learned throughout your career, including the things you’ve always believed could be done better and build a project controls environment that works.

The role also has significant runway. You’ll initially lead a small team of 1–2, with the opportunity for the function to evolve and potentially grow into a broader Project Controls Office / PMO capability as the Group continues to mature.

Most importantly, this role has a genuine seat at the table: reporting directly to the COO and partnering closely with the CFO and senior leadership across the Group.

Why join Global Group?

Join an Australian-owned group delivering critical projects across the energy, infrastructure and construction sectors, with the opportunity to influence how we work as we continue to grow.

You’ll also enjoy the broader benefits of being part of Global Group, including professional development opportunities, wellbeing initiatives, reward and recognition, birthday leave and genuine flexibility.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have unrestricted Australian work rights. Applications close on Friday, 28th August. We’d love to hear from you. Apply now!

The Global Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer and values the diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives of our people. We welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates.
