Civil Design Engineer – Renewables & Infrastructure | Brisbane

SPD is expanding, and we’re looking for a Civil Design Engineer to support our growing pipeline of solar, wind, BESS, substation and transmission projects across the region.

The Role

As a Civil Design Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering civil engineering designs and supporting multidisciplinary project delivery across renewable energy and network infrastructure projects.

You will work closely with electrical, structural, and project delivery teams to ensure designs are safe, compliant, constructible, and aligned with SPD’s quality and design control processes.

Key Responsibilities

You will be involved in:

- Preparing civil designs including earthworks, site grading, drainage, access roads, hardstands, trenching and substation/BESS civil works

- Undertaking engineering calculations for earthworks, drainage, hydraulics, pavements and geotechnical interpretation

- Coordinating civil interfaces with electrical, structural and transmission disciplines





- Applying ISO 9001‑aligned design control processes and maintaining design documentation

- Participating in Safety in Design (SiD) workshops and supporting risk mitigation activities

- Preparing technical specifications, responding to RFIs and reviewing contractor submissions

- Supporting construction activities through site inspections and technical reviews

- Engaging with clients, Owner’s Engineers, contractors and consultants

About You

Mandatory:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering

- 3–8+ years’ experience in civil engineering design

- Experience in infrastructure, industrial or renewable energy projects

- Proficiency with Civil 3D, 12D or similar design tools

Desirable:

- Experience in solar, wind, BESS, substation or transmission projects

- Exposure to EPC/EPCM or Owner’s Engineer environments

- Working towards Chartered status (CPEng)
