About the role
We are seeking a hands-on leader with a passion for operations and team development. As the Ballarat Branch Manager, you will be at the heart of our branch success, managing stock and workflow and ensuring a safe and productive working environment. You will lead a small team to oversee the day to day running of our busy branch, ensuring excellence in customer service, staff performance and operational efficiency.
You'll oversee inventory, customer service, staff management and sales growth to ensure the branch operates efficiently, effectively and profitably. This position entails managing, organising, coordinating, and monitoring all daily branch operations in a professional manner.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous retail and trade management experience looking to step up into a leadership role or build on their existing supervisory or management experience.
What does my day to day look like?
- Leadership of a small supportive Counter Sales & Warehouse team, ensuring they are properly trained, motivated and working efficiently.
- Organise the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods to maintain accurate inventory management.
- Supervise storage, packing, and dispatch processes for customer orders.
- Identify and secure recent client and business/sales opportunities.
- Oversee the planning and layout of the branch.
- Develop branch employees to ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures.
- Provide support for counter sales activities when required.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of branch employees.
- Prepare reports on branch operations as directed.
- Inform customers of new products and price changes and maintain communication to meet their stock control and reordering needs.
- Develop and implement branch sales plans aligned with company growth targets.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing customers through regular engagement, site visits, and account management.
- Prospect for new customers, contractors, builders, developers, and commercial projects.
- Identify and pursue new revenue streams, product lines, and market opportunities.
- Prepare quotations, negotiate pricing within delegated authority, and close sales.
- Monitor competitor activity and market trends to inform pricing and product strategies.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders on promotions and campaigns
- Utilise technical knowledge for commercial purposes, including preparing estimates and tenders in line with sales and pricing policies.
- Provide technical information and advice regarding the nature and performance of Polyaire products.
What you will bring to the role:
- 2+ years’ experience in a retail trade supervisory/leadership/management environment.
- Trade qualification,
Certificate, or Diploma in HVAC, Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Mechanical Services, or related field and/or,
- Business, Sales, or Management qualification, or equivalent industry experience. Design experience is advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience in branch, operations, or sales management within a trade, wholesale, or distribution environment.
- Proven track record in sales growth, customer account management, and new business development.
- Experience supervising or leading a team in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and leadership qualities are required, contributing to the operations network.
- Strong negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Safety focus mindset – values workplace safety and puts it first.
- Knowledge of WH&S; and inventory control best practices.
