We’re partnering with a fast-growing digital bank that is significantly expanding its technology capability and building out a current Sydney engineering team.

This is a genuinely hands-on Lead Software Engineer role for someone who wants to stay close to the code while also helping shape/hire the team, build engineering standards and guide technical direction.

You’ll be working directly with the CTO and taking ownership of software that supports new products, customer growth and a broader digital transformation.

What you’ll be doing
Lead a small team while remaining around 50–75% hands-on
Build and deliver across C#, .NET, React and Azure
Own features from design through to production
Help shape engineering standards and ways of working
Work directly with senior technology and business stakeholders
Contribute to architecture and technical decision-making
Help hire and develop additional engineers as the Sydney team grows
Build scalable APIs and services supporting a growing digital platform





What we’re looking for
Robust commercial C# / .NET experience
React experience
Azure or another major cloud platform
Experience with APIs, distributed systems and modern engineering practices
CI/CD, automated testing and Infrastructure as Code exposure
Previous experience leading or mentoring engineers
Robust communication and stakeholder skills
Someone who can think independently and make pragmatic technical decisions

Financial services experience is useful but not essential.

This will suit someone who enjoys smaller, high-quality engineering teams where you can have genuine ownership and influence, rather than operating as one engineer within a very large technology function.

Salary $200,000 - $220,000 plus super - hybrid working.
