The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced payroll skilled to step into a Payroll Manager role with full ownership of a national payroll function, leading a small, high-performing team and playing a key leadership role within the broader Finance function.

The Challenge

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will lead a Melbourne-based team of two and take full ownership of the national payroll function, covering a monthly pay cycle for over 1,000 employees nationally.

Key responsibilities will include




Accurate and timely delivery of payroll payments, including garnishments, advantages and taxes, consistent with federal and state wage laws
Preparation and lodgement of monthly and annual workers' compensation returns, payroll tax returns and PAYG withholding tax reconciliations
Accurate and timely processing of recent hires, transfers, promotions and terminations
Management of superannuation contributions and compliance, including monthly reconciliations
Preparation of regular management reporting, including month-end, leave liability and payroll journals
Driving continuous improvement across payroll systems and processes, including playing a leading role in an active payroll system migration
Leading, mentoring and developing a small team, building capability and role-modelling strong leadership
Building and maintaining strong cross-func
