Our client is a local council in Melbourne’s North seeking an experienced Child Safety Advisor to join their Children, Youth & Families team on a temporary basis for a 3-month contract. This is a strategic role responsible for leading the organisation’s child safety function and supporting the ongoing development of its Child Safe Framework, ensuring compliance with the Victorian Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme.
Key responsibilities:
Lead the development and implementation of the Child Secure Framework
Develop and maintain child safety policies, procedures and work plans
Provide strategic advice on child safety risks, compliance and emerging issues
Lead child safety training, communications and awareness initiatives
Coordinate the Child Secure Working Group and engage with internal and external stakeholders
Build strong relationships with government, community organisations and sector partners
Provide leadership and oversight to the Child Safety Project Officer
Prepare high-quality briefings, reports and recommendations for senior leadership
About you:
Demonstrated experience implementing and applying the Victorian Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme
Experience leading organisation-wide frameworks, compliance initiatives or cultural change projects
Robust policy development, project management and stakeholder engagement skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Local government experience is highly desirable
Relevant qualifications in human services, community services, compliance, risk management or a related discipline are desirable
